Why We Started This
I'm Giacomo — I own two properties in 78704 (Bouldin Creek and Travis Heights). When I got my 2025 TCAD assessment, I knew it was too high. I looked at hiring a property tax firm, but the fees were absurd — 40% at Resolute, 50% at O'Connor, and even Ownwell takes 25%.
I thought: why does it cost so much to compare some numbers and fill out a form? The evidence is all public data — comparable sales, property characteristics, assessment histories. The process is standardized. The analysis is formulaic.
So I built TaxProtestAustin. Our AI analyzes every comparable property in Travis County — all 492,000+ of them — to build evidence packets that used to take analysts hours to prepare. That's how we charge 20% instead of 40%. Not because we cut corners, but because technology makes it possible.
